fx3dviewer is a tool to primarly visualize surface topography. it also has some tools to analyse the data in 3D and “plugins” to interoperate with other projects which also used the fx3dviewer as their visualization tool.

history of fx3dviewer

while working (and studying) at the iww with/under prof. dr. ulrich wendt i was the leaddeveloper for the visualization program in some projects. those projects wanted to analyse and specify surface topography. i started this in the beginning to get some “points” but after we finished it they wanted to enhance the software and so i put a lot of work into it. the data to analyse came mostly out of the confocal-laser-raster-microscope (clsm, cool thing) the institut has there.
